Part I - The death of Angel Antonio Arreche

Angel Antonio Arreche (a.k.a. Nono, Tony) was born on July 21, 1913. He died on March 1978. There has been a lot of bad blood within the Arreche family related to certain happenings related to the probate liquidation of Mr. Arreche's estate. In the interest and pursuit of the truth this reporter has obtained the following information all believed to come from reputable and trustworthy sources.

One evening, just after dinner Mr. Arreche started complaining that the meal he had just had did not agree with him. He was complaining of nausea and what he called a burning sensation at the pit of his stomach. The pain got worse and it was then that his wife decided to rush with him to the Carolina Regional Hospital which was the closest facility to their home. In order to enter into the medical facility as quickly as possible she took a road that led to the back entrance of the hospital. This entrance was closed and she therefore had to go all the way around to enter through the front. This procedure took her 10 to 15 minutes.

When she arrived at the entrance of the Hospital's emergency room Mr. Arreche had just expired. Nothing was done by hospital personnel to revive him. Had he been administered CPR there was a strong probability that he would have lived. Instead he was declared DOA (dead on arrival) and according to procedure was left dead in the front seat of the car. The hospital personnel alledged that the medical examiner had to give an order to remove the cadaver and have it sent to the coroner's for autopsy.

Donna called Mrs. Yolanda Arreche de Serrano (a.k.a. Yuli) and Diana Arreche de Carmona. Bewildered Yuli called her son Miguel A. Serrano Arreche (a.k.a. Michael, Micky, Cheerio) at his home in Luquillo. Michael immediately went to the Hospital. When he arrived Tony's body was still stooped over in the front seat of the car. Donna was in a state of shock. Michael verbally abused the emergency room personnel for their insensitivity and then took on full responsibility as related to the body. He took the body out of the car and laid it on a stretcher. He then rolled the stretcher into the emergency room and called the police accepting full responsibility for the movement of the body. When the coroner's office wagon arrived at the Hospital he was their to supervise the movement of the body. Michael went to the coroner's office with the wagon and waited for the head coroner to arrive. When the coroner arrived Michael explained that he was their to identify a DOA which was his uncle. Having identified the body and sworn to a statement that Tony had been under treatment for a heart condition the body was released without an autopsy to him. He made the arrangements and the body was sent to a funeral parlor.

By this time Tony's kin had been informed of his decease.
