Don Eduardo Arreche Cuevas:
Was once the Superintendent of Schools in Puerto Rico.
Was a practitioner of calligraphic arts.
Two of our great-aunts (twins, I understand) were opera singers that performed in the Spanish court of Queen Victoria.
Iris Arreche Vda. de Maddlone:
Was a Deputy Marshal for the US Justice Department. She actually worked undercover on a case to expose a major drug ring in San Juan.
Used to own her own clothing store in Santurce.
Was a purchaser for the City of New York (an Arreche with a license to shop!)
Antonio (Tony) Arreche:
Was a NASA engineer who worked on the Gemini and Apollo projects.
Survived a harrowing plane crash back in the 40’s which left him with a permanent twitch in his right shoulder. Doctors told him that what saved him from paralysis (and possibly even death) was his musculature (Tony was an amateur body-builder). This prevented him from becoming a neurosurgeon.
Francisco Lopez Quiñones (a.k.a. Tio Panchito):
Was once the head of the Nationalist Party in San Juan under Don Albisu-Campo, and was imprisoned along with other Party Chiefs in a Federal Penitentiary for defending his political views.
